About Me

Hello! My name is Tresa Alapat, and I am very excited to join the Oak Avenue community! I look forward to teaching first grade next year.

My passion is to help my students discover the sheer joy of learning, and foster an environment where they feel safe to take up challenges, make mistakes and extend their thinking. My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Psychology, and graduate degrees in both Computer Engineering and Education.

I immigrated from India in the 1980s and now live in Sunnyvale with my husband. We have three daughters who are the light of our lives. It seems like it was just yesterday when my daughters were attending first grade, although in reality it was more than two decades ago! My family loves to cook together, go on hikes and play board and card games. I have heard so much about how close-knit and supportive the Oak Avenue community is, and I am thrilled to get an opportunity to be part of such a wonderful community!
